Volleyball Recap: Notre Dame Starts Season with Loss at Home

Notre Dame unfortunately couldn't capitalize on their home-court advantage in their season opener. They took a 3-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Woodcrest Christian Royals on Tuesday. If the Titans were looking for revenge after losing 3-0 to the Royals when the teams met back in August of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Notre Dame started the match hot and won the first set, but they struggled down the stretch and lost the last three. The final score came out to 23-25, 25-23, 25-22, 25-18.

Leading Woodcrest Christian to victory were Reagan Hamada and Brooklyn Russell. Hamada had seven digs and one assist, while Russell had 14 digs and nine aces. Those nine aces gave Russell a new career-high.

Woodcrest Christian's victory bumped their record up to 2-4.

Notre Dame has already played their next matchup, a 3-0 defeat against Arrowhead Christian on the 14th. As for Woodcrest Christian, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 1-0 win against Paloma Valley on the 16th.
