Basketball Recap: Providence Catholic Comes Up Short

On Tuesday, the Providence Catholic Celtics came up short against the Wheaton Academy Warriors and fell 70-62. While losing is never fun, the Celtics can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 338th, while the Warriors are ranked 120th).

Providence Catholic has also traveled a rocky road recently having lost three of their last four matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 10-21 record this season. That patch can't be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 56.5 points over those games. The win made it two in a row for Wheaton Academy and bumps their season record up to 18-8.

Coming up, Providence Catholic will welcome Chicago Washington at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Providence Catholic has been dominant on offense recently, having racked up an incredible 178 points over their last three games. As for Wheaton Academy, they have already played their next contest, a 56-48 victory against Nazareth Academy on the 19th.
