Basketball Game Preview: Bryan Bears vs. Columbus Discoverers

The Bryan Bears will head out to take on the Columbus Discoverers at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The two teams have had a bumpy ride up to this point with 23 consecutive losses dating back to last season for Bryan and seven for Columbus.

Last Tuesday, Bryan lost to Creighton Prep at home by a 80-61 margin. While losing is never fun, the Bears can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Nebraska basketball rankings (they are ranked 241st, while the Junior Jays are ranked 22nd).

The losing side was boosted by Kaleb Kimble, who went 6-for-13 to rack up 16 points and seven rebounds. The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in boards. The team also got some help courtesy of Keyon Williams, who went 5-for-12 on his way to 13 points.

Meanwhile, Columbus lost a heartbreaker to Grand Island when they met back in February of 2024, and they left with a heavy heart again on Thursday. Columbus took a 54-47 hit to the loss column at the hands of Grand Island.

Bryan's record now sits at 0-22. As for Columbus, their record now sits at 5-17.
