After losing to Capistrano Valley the last time they met, Villa Park decided to demonstrate that turnabout is fair play. Villa Park sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 3-1 win over Capistrano Valley on Friday. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Spartans.

Owen Smith looked comfortable as he pitched 3.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one earned run any time he's pitched this season.

At the plate, Villa Park's victory was truly a team effort as five different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Shawn Romero, who went 1-for-2 with one double and one RBI.

Villa Park's win bumped their record up to 8-3. As for Capistrano Valley, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 6-5.

Looking ahead, Villa Park is taking a road trip to square off against Canyon at 3:15 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Capistrano Valley, they will host Dana Hills at 3:45 p.m. on Monday. This will be Capistrano Valley's first chance to prove their worth in the conference.
