Softball Game Preview: St. Marys Blue Devils vs. South Harrison Hawks

The St. Marys Blue Devils will head out to challenge the South Harrison Hawks at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. St. Marys will be strutting in after a victory while South Harrison will be coming in after a defeat.

St. Marys is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of West Virginia's top teams: Doddridge County, who was ranked sixth at the time (St. Marys was ranked 22nd). The Blue Devils had just enough and edged out the Bulldogs 3-2. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Blue Devils.

Cali Masters spent all nine innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on three hits and racked up 19 Ks.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Ella Bullman, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-4. Brylee McGrady was another key player, going 3-for-5 with two doubles and one RBI.

Meanwhile, South Harrison lost 12-4 to Doddridge County on Tuesday. The Hawks haven't had much luck with the Bulldogs recently, as the team has come up short the last nine times they've met.

South Harrison saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Ava Louk, who scored a run while going 2-for-3.

South Harrison's loss dropped their record down to 1-5. As for St. Marys, their win bumped their record up to 8-3.
