Recap: Mullen Broncos vs. Sandhills Valley Mavericks
After a string of three wins, the Mullen Broncos's good fortune finally ran out on Monday. They fell just short of Sandhills Valley by a score of 35-33. Mullen was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Sandhills Valley apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in February of 2023.
Sandhills Valley's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Braden Powell led the charge by scoring nine points along with three steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Leyton Connell, who scored eight points along with five rebounds and three steals.
Mullen now has a losing record at 5-6. As for Sandhills Valley, they now have a winning record of 7-6.
Mullen will head out on the road to challenge Hershey on Tuesday. Sandhills Valley will be staying on the road on Thursday to face off against South Loup at 4:30 p.m. on January 25th. South Loup presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Sandhills Valley in Nebraska (South Loup is ranked 63rd, while Sandhills Valley is ranked 202nd).
