Baseball Game Preview: Whitko Wildcats vs. Manchester Squires

The Whitko Wildcats are taking a road trip to take on the Manchester Squires at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

Saturday just wasn't the day for Whitko's offense. They came up short against Greenwood Christian Academy on Saturday, falling 11-0. Having soared to a lofty 21 runs in the game before, the Wildcats' shutout was a dramatic turnaround.

Meanwhile, Manchester was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. They took an 8-3 hit to the loss column at the hands of DeKalb. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last seven times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.

Ethan Hendrix made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-4 with two runs and two doubles. Reiss Gaerte was another key player, going 2-for-4 with one run and one double.

Manchester's loss dropped their record down to 9-11. As for Whitko, their defeat dropped their record down to 10-7.

Whitko suffered a grim 14-0 defeat to Manchester in their previous meeting back in May of 2024. Can the Wildcats avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
