Volleyball Recap: Murrieta Valley Nighthawks vs. Poly Bears

Murrieta Valley lost against Poly back in February of 2024, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Wednesday. The Murrieta Valley Nighthawks fell just short of the Poly Bears by a score of 3-2. While the Nighthawks didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Bears 25-15 in the first set.

Murrieta Valley started the match hot and won the first two sets, but they struggled down the stretch and lost the last three. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 15-25, 21-25, 25-18, 25-21, 15-10.

Despite the defeat, Murrieta Valley saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Jedi Malaambo had five digs and three aces. What's more, Malaambo posted three kills, the most he's had over his last seven contests. Kemar Chambers also deserves some recognition as he had his first kill of the season.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Murrieta Valley will face off against Rancho Verde at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. After both having extra time off, Poly and JW North will dust off their jerseys to square off against one another at 5:15 p.m. on March 13th. This will be Poly's first chance to prove their worth in the conference.
