Jay has gone a perfect 3-0 against Blacksher recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Friday. The Royals will challenge the Bulldogs at 2:00 p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Jay had to skate by with only a two-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the seven-run drubbing they dealt Crestview on Thursday. The Royals were the clear victors by a 12-5 margin over the Bulldogs. The Royals haven't had any issues with the Bulldogs recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive victory against them.
Kaylee Gilbreath was incredible, getting on base in four of her five plate appearances with two stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in March. Another player making a difference was Kylei Martinez, who went 2-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.
Fans were treated to a battle of the Bulldogs on Thursday. Blacksher never let Clarke County get on the board and left with a 16-0 win.
Blacksher got a massive performance out of Emeri Ikner, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with five RBI, two runs, and two doubles. Bradleigh Stinson was another key player, getting on base in all three of her plate appearances with three runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.
Blacksher always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .783. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their OBP total in three consecutive games.
Blacksher has been performing well recently as they've won six of their last eight contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 20-12 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.1 runs over those games. As for Jay, their record now sits at 18-1.
Friday's match will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Jay hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .320. However, it's not like Blacksher struggles in that department as they've averaged .333. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Jay was able to grind out a solid win over Blacksher in their previous matchup back in February, winning 13-10. Will the Royals repeat their success, or do the Bulldogs have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
