Baseball Game Preview: Athens Red Hawks vs. Oxford Wildcats

For the second straight game, Athens will face off against Oxford. The Red Hawks will be playing at home against the Wildcats at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Athens has a tough task ahead: they'll enter the game with four straight defeats, while Oxford will come in with three straight wins.

On Monday, Athens came up short against Oxford and fell 6-3.

For Oxford's part, Dean Rice tossed a big game, striking out six batters over 5.1 innings while giving up three earned runs off five hits.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Nolan Mauser, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with four stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. Those four stolen bases gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Eli Carpenter, who went 1-for-2 with one run and one RBI.

Oxford's victory bumped their record up to 12-8-1. As for Athens, their loss dropped their record down to 4-9.
