Baseball Recap: Independence Falls to Bay in First Game of Season

Independence unfortunately couldn't capitalize on their home-field advantage in their season opener. They came up short against the Bay Rockets on Tuesday, falling 9-2. If the Blue Devils were looking for revenge after losing 5-2 to the Rockets when the teams met back in March of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Owen Jenks put in work no matter where he played. On the mound, he pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Jenks was also big at the plate, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 1-for-2.

Independence will be playing in front of their home fans against Brecksville-Broadview Heights at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Bay, they will venture away from home to challenge North Royalton at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
