Softball Game Preview: Farina South Central Cougars vs. Flora Wolves

The Farina South Central Cougars will head out to square off against the Flora Wolves at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Farina South Central is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.8 runs per game this season.

Farina South Central's pitching crew heads into the game hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Tuesday. Everything went their way against Brownstown/St. Elmo as they made off with a 15-0 win. The Cougars haven't had any issues with the Eagles recently, as the game was their ninth consecutive victory against them.

Kinlee Thompson made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out eight over four innings pitched. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one walk in three consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs while going 1-for-2.

In other batting news, Maddie Peddicord was incredible, going a perfect 2-for-2 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in March. Kaitlyn Swift was another key player, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-2.

Farina South Central hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least three batters in five consecutive matches.

Meanwhile, Flora sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 2-0 win over Teutopolis on Tuesday.

Flora's record now sits at 3-5. As for Farina South Central, they now have a winning record of 7-6.

Farina South Central might still be hurting after the 10-0 loss they got from Flora in their previous meeting back in April of 2024. Can the Cougars avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
