Ganesha is preparing for their first league matchup of the season on Friday. After each having a week off, they and the La Puente Warriors will shake off the cobwebs and hit the field against one another at 7:00 p.m. One thing working in Ganesha's favor is that they have posted at least 31 points in their last four matchups.
Ganesha took a loss when they played away from home on September 12th, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed last Friday. They took their game with ease, bagging a 70-6 victory over Bernstein. The Giants' offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.
Albert Kelsey had a dynamite game, rushing for 113 yards and three scores on only seven carries, while also throwing for 213 yards and three touchdowns on only 12 passes. Henry Rodriguez was Kelsey's top target, picking up 68 receiving yards and one TD, while also rushing for 66 yards and one score.
Meanwhile, after some red-hot attacks on offense in their last four contests, La Puente finally came back down to earth last Friday. They were outmatched by Marquez and fell 55-12. The matchup marked the Warriors' lowest-scoring game so far this season.
Ganesha will have to contain Ezekeil Zamora as he made an impact in La Puente's last game. He threw for 213 yards and a pair of touchdowns while picking up 10.7 yards per attempt. A healthy portion of that aerial production (94 yards to be exact) went to Junior Preyer-Ronquillo.
Ganesha pushed their record up to 3-2 with the win, which was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season. The home victories came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 12.6 points on average this season. As for La Puente, they moved to 3-2 with that loss, which also ended their three-game winning streak.
Friday's contest might be decided on the ground. Ganesha has been unstoppable on the ground this season, having averaged 211.2 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like La Puente struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 201.4 rushing yards. There's a good chance Friday's matchup turns into a tough fight on the ground.
