Baseball Recap: Franklin Has No Trouble Against Barringer

While Franklin put up plenty of runs on Saturday, the same can't be said for Barringer. The Warriors put the hurt on the Blue Bears with a sharp 15-0 win. The Warriors might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won three contests by seven runs or more this season.

Shayne Rooney tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only two hits while striking out nine over five innings pitched. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two hits in three consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Michael Schiermeyer, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with four runs, one triple, and one stolen base. He has become a key player for Franklin: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two runs, but 2-5 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Stanley Madera, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with three runs, one stolen base, and one double.

Franklin always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .595. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

The victory got Franklin back to even at 5-5. As for Barringer, they dropped their record down to 0-11 with the loss, which was their sixth straight on the road.

Coming up, Franklin will square off against Hillsborough at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for Barringer, they will face off against West Orange at 4:00 p.m. on Monday.
