Football Recap: Fairhope Snaps Four-Game Streak of Losses on the Road + How To Watch

Fairhope had lost four games on the road dating back to last season, but after bumping their record up to 3-1 on Friday that streak is in the rearview. Everything went their way against the Davidson Warriors as they made off with a 35-14 win. The Pirates might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won three matchups by 21 points or more this season.

One reason for the win was Fairhope's imposing defense, which managed to get into the backfield for four sacks. In that department, Nash Gearhart was the leader with three. He also set a new season-high mark in total tackles with seven. Fairhope got some further help from Dagan Jones: he made 12 total tackles (1.0 for loss) and defended two passes.

Special teams played a big role in the game for Fairhope, adding 11 points to the final score. The biggest highlight from special teams (and perhaps the team as a whole) came courtesy of Bryon Martin, who ran a punt back for a touchdown.

As for Davidson, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 1-2. Despite 122 more yards than Fairhope, the Warriors couldn't convert that extra yardage to scores.

When it comes to explaining why Davidson lost, don't look at Micah Spivey. Despite the final result, he threw for 243 yards and one touchdown, and also rushed for 52 yards and one score. 106 of Spivey's passing yards were hauled in by Alviyon Dinkins.
