Softball Game Preview: Fair Haven Slaters vs. Brattleboro Bears

Fair Haven is 1-6 against Brattleboro since April of 2016 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Slaters will venture away from home to take on the Bears at 5:00 p.m. Fair Haven has given up an average of 13.6 runs per game this season, but Friday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Having struggled with six defeats in a row, Fair Haven turned things around against Springfield on Wednesday. They walked away with a 16-11 win over the Cosmos. The Slaters' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

Meanwhile, Brattleboro fell victim to Mount Anthony and their airtight pitching crew on Wednesday. They came up short against the Patriots, falling 8-0. Having soared to a lofty 15 runs in the game before, the Bears' shutout was a dramatic turnaround.

Brattleboro's loss dropped their record down to 2-9. As for Fair Haven, their victory was their first in the district, bumping their district record up to 1-5 and their overall record up to 2-8.

Fair Haven got the 'W' when the teams last played back in May of 2025 against Brattleboro by a conclusive 12-0 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Slaters since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
