Parkland is 2-8 against Davie since January of 2017 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Parkland Mustangs just played yesterday, but they'll still head out to face the Davie War Eagles at 6:00 p.m. Parkland is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 56.4 points per game this season.
On Thursday, Parkland earned a 60-51 win over Central Davidson. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Mustangs.
Parkland's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Azari Wilkins led the charge by going 8 of 11 en route to 21 points. Another player making a difference was Jordan Fisher, who went 7 for 13 on her way to 17 points and three steals.
Meanwhile, a well-balanced attack led Davie over West Forsyth in every quarter on their way to victory on Tuesday. Davie came out on top against West Forsyth by a score of 66-53. Given the War Eagles' advantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 76th, while the Titans are ranked 224th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Parkland better focus on containing Bailey Aderhold and Avarie Martin as the pair were huge in Davie's win. Aderhold went 6 of 10 en route to 16 points, while Martin went 9 for 13 on her way to 18 points and five rebounds. What's more, Aderhold also racked up four assists, the most she's had since back in December of 2023. Gracie Shore was another key player, putting up four points along with seven boards and five assists.
Davie smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 11 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 11 offensive rebounds in four consecutive matchups.
Davie is on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight games, which provided a nice bump to their 14-6 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 65.1 points per game. As for Parkland, their record now sits at 14-7.
Some high-performance offense is likely on the agenda as Parkland and Davie are some of the highest scoring teams in the league. Parkland hasn't had any problem running up the score this season, having averaged 56.4 points per game. However, it's not like Davie struggles in that department as they've been averaging 58.3 points. With both teams so easily able to put up points, the only question left is who can run the score up higher.
Parkland suffered a grim 78-58 defeat to Davie when the teams last played back in January. That contest was all but decided by halftime, at which point Parkland was down 43-19.
