Football Recap: South Sumter Raiders vs. Dunnellon Tigers
South Sumter was the 13-12 winner over Dunnellon when they last played one another back in October of 2023, but their luck changed this time around. The South Sumter Raiders took a 22-14 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Dunnellon Tigers on Friday. The Raiders have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Several Raiders players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Ja?Kyrian Turner, who rushed for 64 yards and a touchdown on only seven carries.
Dunnellon had a senior duo take command as Sean Martin gained 102 total yards and two touchdowns and Jeffery Vickers rushed for 77 yards and a touchdown. What's more, Martin also racked up 48 rushing yards, the most he's had since back in November of 2023.
South Sumter's loss dropped their record down to 3-6. As for Dunnellon, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 6-3.
South Sumter will get a bit of extra time to process the defeat as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Eastside at 7:00 p.m. on November 7th.
