Softball Game Preview: Los Altos Eagles vs. Milpitas Trojans

The Los Altos Eagles will challenge the Milpitas Trojans at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. Los Altos is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.6 runs per game this season.

Los Altos came up short against Westmont on Tuesday, falling 11-4. The loss continues a trend for the Eagles in their meetings with the Warriors: they've now lost three in a row.

Sabrina Neal was cooking despite her team's loss, going 1-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double. She is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last five games she's played. Another player making a difference was Lila Neugebauer, who went 1-for-3 with three RBI.

Meanwhile, Milpitas was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They took a 5-2 hit to the loss column at the hands of Mountain View. Trojans fans who chose to attend the game sure picked the wrong one: it was the first time the team's lost against the Spartans since on Tuesday.

Marissa Gil spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned (and two unearned) runs on two hits.

On the hitting side, Chloe Cabrera made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with one home run and one double.

Los Altos' loss dropped their record down to 9-7. As for Milpitas, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-10.

Thursday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Los Altos hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .326. However, it's not like Milpitas struggles in that department as they've averaged .318. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
