Basketball Recap: Cave City Takes a Loss

Cave City lost against Melbourne last Tuesday, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Monday. The Cave City Cavemen were beaten by the Melbourne Bearkatz 65-29. While losing is never fun, the Cavemen can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Arkansas basketball rankings (they are ranked 171st, while the Bearkatz are ranked 30th).

Cave City dropped their record down to 2-5 with the loss, which was their sixth straight on the road dating back to last season. As for Melbourne, the victory (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 5-1.

Cave City won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Valley Springs at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Valley Springs has been dominant on offense recently, having racked up an incredible 214 points over their last three games. As for Melbourne, they also won't have to wait long for more action: they'll take on Flippin at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Melbourne knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past three contests -- so hopefully Flippin likes a good challenge.
