Basketball Game Recap: Luther Knights vs. Sparta Spartans

After flying high against the Viroqua Blackhawks last Friday, the Luther Knights came back down to earth. Luther fell just short of Sparta by a score of 36-33. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Luther has scored all season.

Sparta found their leader in underclassman Elexa Jones, who scored 18 points along with six rebounds. Those 18 points set a new season-high mark for her. The team also got some help courtesy of Lily Seifert, who scored nine points along with eight rebounds and three steals.

Luther's defeat dropped their record down to 5-3. As for Sparta, their victory bumped their record up to 3-7.

Luther will head out on the road to face off against Aquinas at 7:15 p.m. on Thursday. Aquinas will be looking to keep their three-game home win streak alive. Sparta will be home for the holidays to greet Black River Falls at 7:15 p.m. on Thursday. Black River Falls is coming into the match on a six-game losing streak.
