Baseball Recap: Flushing Drops Season-High Score on Lane

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Flushing). They blew past the Lane Knights 12-1 on Tuesday. The Red Devils not only won on Tuesday, but they posted their biggest win since April 11, 2024 (when they won 11-0).

The team relied heavily on Jonas Cruz, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run. Those hits marked the first that he has got this season. Ryan Diaz was another key player, getting on base in all three of his plate appearances with two runs and one RBI.

Flushing always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .594. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

The victory (which was Flushing's third in a row) raised their record to 4-5. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.7 runs on average over those games. As for Lane, their loss dropped their record down to 2-6.

Flushing and Lane could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps New York Rankings. The Red Devils will challenge Academy of American Studies at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday with a big rank disadvantage (383 vs. 40). Meanwhile, Lane (ranked 421st) will meet Bowne (ranked 105th) at 4:00 p.m. on Friday.
