Softball Recap: Mark Keppel Turns Things Around After Road Loss

There's no place like home for Mark Keppel, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Thursday. They came out on top against the Temple City Rams by a score of 11-7 on Tuesday. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Aztecs considering their one-run performance the match before.

Robyn Guitron made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out 14 batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned (and five unearned) runs off seven hits (and only one walk). That's the most strikeouts she has posted since back in March of 2024. She was also big at the plate, scoring a run while going 1-for-2.

In other batting news, Lauren Young was incredible, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with three RBI, two runs, and one triple. Nevaeh Saldivar was another key player, going 1-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and one RBI.

Mark Keppel hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now struck out at most five strikeouts in five consecutive games dating back to last season.

Mark Keppel now has a winning record of 2-1. As for Temple City, they now have a losing record of 1-2.
