Baseball Game Preview: Bishop's Knights vs. San Dieguito Academy Mustangs

The Bishop's Knights will be taking part in a tournament against the San Dieguito Academy Mustangs at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. Bishop's is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7 runs per game this season.

Bishop's tournament run continued when they took on Oceanside on Wednesday. Bishop's fell just short of Oceanside by a score of 9-8.

Bishop's got a good showing from Grayson Blatt, who tossed 3.1 innings while giving up just two earned (and two unearned) runs off one hit. The dominant performance also gave Blatt a new career-high in strikeouts (five).

On the hitting side, Clyde Kates was cooking despite his team's loss, scoring two runs while going 3-for-3. Henry Armstrong was another key player, scoring a run while going 3-for-5.

Meanwhile, San Dieguito Academy was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. They fell 8-4 to Fallbrook.

Gage Garrison made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with one home run and two RBI. That home run was his first of the season. The team also got some help courtesy of Ben Hastings, who scored two runs while going 3-for-4.

Bishop's loss dropped their record down to 4-3-1. As for San Dieguito Academy, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-5.

San Dieguito Academy's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Bishop's hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .327. It's a different story for San Dieguito Academy, though, as they've only averaged .223. Will they be able to contain Bishop's hitters?

Bishop's was able to grind out a solid win over San Dieguito Academy in their previous meeting back in March of 2016, winning 3-0. Does Bishop's have another victory up their sleeve, or will San Dieguito Academy turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
