Softball Recap: Church Point's Losing Streak Snapped at Nine Games

Church Point can bid farewell to their nine-game losing streak thanks to their game on Wednesday. They came out on top against the St. Edmund Fighting Blue Jays by a score of 8-4. For the Bears, this counts as revenge for the 11-2 win the Fighting Blue Jays walked away with the last time they faced one another back in March of 2024.

Ryleigh Hooks spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and two unearned) runs on five hits. That's the fewest earned runs she has allowed since back in February.

At the plate, Kaylee Henry was incredible, going 3-for-4 with one home run, five RBI, and one double. Those five RBI gave her a new career-high. Kylee Fruge was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one home run and two runs.

Church Point's victory bumped their record up to 4-11-1. As for St. Edmund, they dropped their record down to 5-7 with the loss, which was their sixth straight on the road.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Church Point will host Beau Chene at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. As for St. Edmund, they will square off against Catholic of Pointe Coupee at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. Catholic of Pointe Coupee's pitching crew has only allowed 2.7 runs per game this season, so St. Edmund's hitters will have their work cut out for them.
