Softball Recap: Kettering Captains vs. West Bloomfield Lakers
Kettering extended their losing streak to eight on Monday, dropping their season record down to 1-13 in the process. They came up short against the West Bloomfield Lakers, falling 15-3. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Lakers this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 14-8 on Monday.
As for West Bloomfield, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 3-20. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 14.5 runs over those games.
For West Bloomfield's part, ADDY MORRIS was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run over five innings pitched. MORRIS was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with three runs, four RBI, and one triple. Those four RBI gave her a new career-high.
In other batting news, West Bloomfield got a massive performance out of LAIKEN CONNOR, who went 2-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one double. CHARLIE BOWER was another key player, going 2-for-4 with four runs and one stolen base.
Coming up, Kettering will face off against Ferndale at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Captains are facing the Eagles at the right time seeing as the Eagles are stuck on a nine-game losing streak. As for West Bloomfield, they will take on Troy at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Colts have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 9.76 runs per game on average), something the Lakers will no doubt try to take advantage of.
