Softball Recap: Trenton Central Gets the Win

Trenton Central let LEAP Academy stack nine runs on them in the first inning on Wednesday but luckily Trenton Central prevailed anyway. The Tornadoes were the clear victors by a 16-10 margin over the Lancers. For the Tornadoes, this counts as revenge for the 29-14 victory the Lancers walked away with the last time they faced one another back in April of 2025.

Yeli V made a splash no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out seven over six innings pitched. V was also big at the plate, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two stolen bases, one triple, and one run.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Delianna Marte, who went 4-for-5 with three stolen bases, three runs, and one triple. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-high in RBI (two). Another player making a difference was Chrisyaniz Inestroza, who went 4-for-5 with three doubles, two runs, and two RBI.

Trenton Central always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .762. Their OBP was a full 0 higher than the also-impressive .619 that LEAP Academy posted.

Trenton Central's first win this season bumped their record up to 1-3. As for LEAP Academy, their loss dropped their record down to an identical 1-3.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Trenton Central will take on Montgomery at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. The Tornadoes' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Cougars have averaged an impressive 6.6 runs per game this season. As for LEAP Academy, they will face off against Bridgeton at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday.
