Basketball Recap: Ava Takes a Loss

Ava was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their seventh straight loss. They were beaten by the Norwood Pirates 70-35. While losing is never fun, the Bears can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Missouri basketball rankings (they are ranked 330th, while the Pirates are ranked 62nd).

Norwood's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Gentry Davault led the charge by going 6-for-7 en route to 15 points along with seven rebounds and six assists. What's more, Davault also posted a 86% field goal percentage, which is the highest she's posted since back in November of 2024. Another player making a difference was Addy Gray, who went 6-for-9 from beyond the arc on her way to 18 points.

Ava's defeat dropped their record down to 8-14. As for Norwood, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won eight of their last nine matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 17-5 record this season.

Ava has already played their next game (against Dora), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. As for Norwood, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 58-21 win against Conway on the 13th.
