Basketball Recap: Archbishop Rummel Takes Loss Despite Strong Efforts from Brandon Melancon and Jackson Cosentino

Archbishop Rummel lost against Ponchatoula back in December of 2023, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Wednesday. The Archbishop Rummel Raiders fell to the Ponchatoula Green Wave 66-62. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game on Tuesday (56), the Raiders still had to take the loss.

Jackson Cosentino and Brandon Melancon certainly did their best on Wednesday to avoid the loss. Cosentino went 7 for 15 on his way to 18 points and three steals, while Melancon posted 15 points and five rebounds. That's the most points Cosentino has posted since back in November of 2023. The team also got some help courtesy of Harrison Chatagnier, who earned four points.

Having lost for the first time this season, Archbishop Rummel fell to 2-1. As for Ponchatoula, they now also have a winning record of 2-1.

Archbishop Rummel wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next match, a 60-11 win against Bogalusa on the 3rd. As for Ponchatoula, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 64-54 victory against Bourgeois on the 4th.
