Baseball Recap: North Laurel Picks Up Sixth Consecutive Win

North Laurel extended their winning streak to six on Thursday, bumping their season record up to 17-12 in the process. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past the Tates Creek Commodores 6-4. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 4-3 back in March.

Cam Hinkle was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in two of his four plate appearances with one run and one RBI.

Hinkle wasn't the only one making solid contact as four players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Carter Kelley, who went 1-for-4 with one run and one double.

As for Tates Creek, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 12-16 record this season. Even worse, they were so close so many times: the losses came by an average of only 1.67 runs.

On Tates Creek's side, they got a good showing from Gable Hart, who pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. That's the first time Hart hasn't allowed a single hit since back in April.

At the plate, Austin McGaughey made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 1-for-4 with two RBI, one run, and one double. The team also got some help courtesy of Aaron Hobson, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base and one run.

Looking ahead, North Laurel will square off against Harlan County at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Tates Creek does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
