Basketball Recap: New Diana Comes Up Short

New Diana's tournament run continued when they took on Eustace on Saturday. The New Diana Eagles were just a bucket shy of victory and fell 34-33 to the Eustace Bulldogs. The Eagles have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Despite the defeat, New Diana had strong showings from Starrmia Dixon, who went 8 of 17 en route to 16 points along with five boards and four steals, and Kayleigh Tibbetts, who posted 11 points and seven steals. Dixon has been hot, having posted three or more steals the last six times she's played.

New Diana's loss ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 11-11. As for Eustace, their win bumped their record up to 4-7.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. New Diana will get a bit of extra time to process the defeat as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on North Hopkins at 2:15 p.m. on December 31st. Eustace and Mineola will compete for holiday cheer at 6:10 p.m. on Friday.
