Baseball Recap: Mitchell Comes Up Short

Thursday just wasn't the day for Mitchell's offense. They fell just short of the Land O' Lakes Gators by a score of 1-0 on Thursday. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Gators this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 11-0 on Tuesday.

Andrew LaMacchia was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he didn't allow a single earned run over six innings pitched.

At the plate, Mitchell saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Kyle Koslin, who went 2-for-3 with one double.

Mitchell has also been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 10-11 record this season. As for Land O' Lakes, their win was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 16-4.

Coming up, Mitchell will square off against Hernando at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Mustangs 3.6, the Leopards 2.2) so any runs scored will be well earned. As for Land O' Lakes, they will challenge Cypress Creek at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
