Softball Game Preview: Western Alamance Warriors vs. Person Rockets

The Western Alamance Warriors will head out to face off against the Person Rockets at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Western Alamance will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each matchup than the last.

Last Tuesday, Western Alamance made easy work of Southern Alamance and carried off a 13-2 win. Considering the Warriors have won six games by more than six runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

Western Alamance let Bayleigh Burris and Ryan Justice run wild. Burris went 2-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and one double, while Justice went 2-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple. That's the most RBI Justice has posted since back in February. Kyndal Wilborn was another key player, scoring a run while going 2-for-3.

Western Alamance was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .542. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their batting average total in three consecutive contests.

Meanwhile, Wednesday just wasn't the day for Person's offense. They lost 10-0 to Eastern Alamance on Wednesday. Having soared to a lofty 24 runs in the game before, the Rockets' shutout was a dramatic turnaround.

Person has also traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-7 record this season. As for Western Alamance, they now have a winning record of 7-6.

Western Alamance took their victory against Person in their previous meeting on Friday by a conclusive 7-0 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Warriors since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
