Baseball Game Preview: Shades Valley Mounties vs. Clay-Chalkville Cougars

The Shades Valley Mounties will venture away from home to square off against the Clay-Chalkville Cougars at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Shades Valley is looking for their season's first win.

Shades Valley came up short against Mortimer Jordan on Monday, falling 21-4.

Shades Valley saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Parker Douglas, who scored a run while going 2-for-2. The dominant performance also gave Douglas a new career-high in hits (two). Eli Nelson also deserves some recognition as he hit his first triple of the season.

Meanwhile, Clay-Chalkville might've scored the first runs on Wednesday, but it was Leeds who claimed the real prize. Clay-Chalkville lost 17-3 to Leeds. The Cougars have struggled against the Greenwave recently, as the game was their seventh consecutive lost matchup.

Shades Valley's defeat dropped their record down to 0-7. As for Clay-Chalkville, their loss dropped their record down to 1-3.

Shades Valley beat Clay-Chalkville 5-2 in their previous meeting back in February of 2024. The rematch might be a little tougher for Shades Valley since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
