Kyle Cox's Big Game Leads Sandhills/Thedford over Hyannis

Kyle Cox was instrumental in extending Sandhills/Thedford's winning streak to 17 on Friday. Hyannis had no answer to Cox as he rushed for 184 yards and four touchdowns while picking up 11.5 yards per carry, and also threw for 72 yards and two touchdowns. Cox's rushing production has been exceptional for a while as that marked his 21st straight game with at least 119 rushing yards dating back to last season.

Unfortunately for Hyannis, this isn't the first big game they've seen from Cox. When Cox last faced the Longhorns back in September of 2023, he rushed for 152 yards and three touchdowns on only 13 carries, and also picked up 75 receiving yards and three touchdowns.

Kvanvig Came Up Big in Mullen's 78-12 Victory

Mullen found a leader in Tate Kvanvig as the team took down Bayard on Thursday. Kvanvig was dynamite, rushing for 96 yards and four touchdowns on only seven carries. He also put in work on the defensive side of the ball, picking up two sacks, forcing a fumble, and making four total tackles.

Mullen's victory was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 6-2. Kvanvig and Mullen will square off against Axtell at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday.

Kole Jones Delivers Best Performance of Season

Kole Jones produced his most outstanding game to date while leading Maxwell to the win on Thursday. Jones rushed for 172 yards and four touchdowns on only eight carries, good enough to set a new career-high in rushing yards in the process. That high mark didn't come from nowhere: he has now rushed for 105 or more in the last three games he's played.

For the season, Jones has run in 15 touchdowns while averaging 74.2 rushing yards per game. He is looking even better than he did last year: after eight games last season, he was only averaging 33 rushing yards per game.

Jesse Reyes Dazzles in Maxwell Win

Keeping Jones company is Jesse Reyes, a fellow Maxwell player. He rushed for 196 yards and three touchdowns on only 13 carries. His rushing production has been exceptional recently as that marked his third straight game with at least 167 rushing yards.

This season, Reyes has run in 17 touchdowns while averaging 119.5 rushing yards per game. He's made a big improvement compared to last season: at this point last year, he was only averaging 50.13 rushing yards per game.

Alex Werner produced his most outstanding game to date while leading Mullen to the win on Thursday. Werner's rushing production has been exceptional recently as that marked his fourth straight game with at least 106 rushing yards.

This year, Werner has run in 14 touchdowns while averaging 121.2 rushing yards per game. He's made a big improvement compared to last season: at this point last year, he was only averaging 7.38 rushing yards per game.
