Basketball Recap: Brian Cunniff and Nolan Mawhinney Secure Win for Wildwood

There's no place like home for Wildwood, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Thursday. They blew past the Cumberland Colts 55-34 on Saturday. This was a revenge game for the Warriors: when they faced off against the Colts back in December of 2024, they had to take a 55-52 loss.

Wildwood was led to victory by Nolan Mawhinney and Brian Cunniff. Mawhinney on his way to 15 points and four steals, while Cunniff posted 17 points and eight rebounds. Mawhinney has become a key player for Wildwood: the team is 2-1 when he posts at least three steals, but 7-15 otherwise. Jeff Knight was another key player, putting up four points and five boards.

Wildwood smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 12 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards in six consecutive matchups.

Wildwood's record now sits at 9-16. As for Cumberland, their defeat was their 11th straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 4-15.

Wildwood wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 65-62 victory against Pleasantville on the 24th. Cumberland does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
