Baseball Game Preview: Tracy Bulldogs vs. Lincoln Trojans

Tracy is 2-8 against Lincoln since April of 2021 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Monday. The Bulldogs will challenge the Trojans at 4:00 p.m. Both come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Tracy took a 19-run loss the last time they faced off against Lodi, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Bulldogs won by a run and slipped past the Flames 2-1. The victory was a breath of fresh air for the Bulldogs as it put an end to their five-game losing streak.

Jace Johnson tossed a big game, striking out nine batters over 7.1 innings while giving up just one earned run off five hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in eight consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Tracy saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Brady Brown, who went 2-for-4 with two RBI. That's the most RBI Brown has posted since back in February.

Del Oro typically has all the answers at home, but on Friday Lincoln proved too difficult a challenge. They blew past the Golden Eagles 9-1. The result was nothing new for the Trojans, who have now won nine matchups by six runs or more so far this season.

Brayden Glaser looked comfortable as he tossed 3.2 innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Xavier Ayala, who went 2-for-3 with two RBI and one run. The team also got some help courtesy of Bradley Thurman-Swanson, who went 1-for-3 with two RBI and one run.

Lincoln has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won eight of their last nine contests. That's provided a massive bump to their 13-9 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.4 runs on average over those games. As for Tracy, their record is now 9-11.

Tracy couldn't quite get it done against Lincoln in their previous matchup back in April of 2024 as they fell 4-0. Can the Bulldogs avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
