Basketball Recap: Oneida Takes a Loss

Oneida lost against Alcoa two weeks ago and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Monday. The Oneida Indians had to suffer through a 82-46 loss at the hands of the Alcoa Tornadoes. While losing is never fun, the Indians can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Tennessee basketball rankings (they are ranked 273rd, while the Tornadoes are ranked 17th).

Oneida's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Grady Keeton, who posted 19 points and seven rebounds. That was a full 41.3% of Oneida's points, marking the third time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. Jesse Zachary was another key player, putting up eight points.

Oneida has been struggling recently as they've lost six of their last seven matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 9-10 record this season. As for Alcoa, the victory was the seventh in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 15-4.

Oneida will look to defend their home court on Friday against Eagleton College & Career Academy at 7:30 p.m. Oneida is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 55.2 points per game this season. As for Alcoa, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 71-58 win against Austin-East on the 28th.
