Softball Recap: Port St. Joe Wins Going Away Against Sneads

Port St. Joe barely beat Sneads the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. Port St. Joe never let Sneads get on the board and left with an 18-0 win on Tuesday. That looming 18-0 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for the Tiger Sharks yet this season.

Christina Clayton made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Clayton was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run while going 3-for-3.

In other batting news, Elli Newman was a standout: she went a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI. That home run marked the first that she launched this season. Brooke Peacock was another key player, scoring three runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-3.

Port St. Joe kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Sneads didn't got any hits.

The victory (which was Port St. Joe's third in a row) raised their record to 8-3. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average over those games. As for Sneads, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-6.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Port St. Joe will challenge Blountstown at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Sneads, they will take on Liberty County at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
