Baseball Recap: Morrison Comes Up Short

Morrison suffered their closest defeat since March 27, 2025 on Thursday. They fell just short of the Milledgeville Missiles by a score of 9-7. The Mustangs were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Missiles earlier this season, when they won 5-2.

Morrison saw eight different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Koltin Swaim, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. Swaim is becoming a predictor of the Mustangs' success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 5-1 (and 6-8 when he doesn't). Collin Renkes was another, going 2-for-3 with two runs and one RBI.

Morrison's loss ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 11-9. As for Milledgeville, their win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 13-6.

Coming up, Morrison will venture away from home to challenge Mendota at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. As for Milledgeville, they will host Forreston at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. The Missiles' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Cardinals have averaged an impressive 6.4 runs per game this season.
