Sweet Home hasn't had much luck against Cascade recently, but that could start to change on Monday. The Huskies will face off against the Cougars at 5:00 p.m.
Sweet Home had taken Philomath down for two straight games at home, but that winning streak came to an end on Thursday. The Huskies lost 9-3 to the Warriors.
Meanwhile, Cascade put another one in the bag on Thursday to keep their perfect season alive. Their pitchers stepped up to hand North Marion a 21-0 shutout. Considering the Cougars have won 13 contests by more than five runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.
Maddy Tingle made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. What's more, she posted four strikeouts, the most she's had since back in March. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI.
In other batting news, Lexie Gidcumb was a standout: she went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base. She is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games she's played. Another player making a difference was Cassidy Crabtree, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with four runs, three RBI, and one stolen base.
Cascade kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 24 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in 13 consecutive games.
Cascade pushed their record up to 16-0 with the win, which was their 17th straight on the road dating back to last season. Those road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.8 runs on average over those games. As for Sweet Home, their loss dropped their record down to 8-5.
Sweet Home might still be hurting after the 12-6 defeat they got from Cascade in their previous meeting last Wednesday. Can the Huskies avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
