Basketball Recap: McQueen Comes Up Short

McQueen and Damonte Ranch squared off in some playoff action on Tuesday, but McQueen had to settle for second. They were beaten by the Damonte Ranch Mustangs 80-52. The defeat continues a trend for the Lancers in their matchups with the Mustangs: they've now lost six in a row.

Despite the loss, McQueen saw an underclassman step up: freshman Aj Spevak almost dropped a double-double with 21 points and nine boards. That's the most rebounds Spevak has posted since back in December of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Ryder Sefcheck, who earned eight points and seven boards.

Even though they lost, McQueen smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 25 offensive boards. That's the most offensive rebounds they've managed all season.

Kin Vong continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Damonte Ranch, going 8-for-14 en route to 23 points and seven rebounds. Amari Nash was another key player, going 8-for-14 on his way to 18 points.

McQueen's defeat dropped their record down to 12-14. As for Damonte Ranch, they pushed their record up to 17-8 with the win, which was their eighth straight at home.

McQueen does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Damonte Ranch, they have already played their next game, a 64-54 victory against Bishop Manogue on the 13th.
