Preview: Dover Pirates vs. Central Arkansas Christian Mustangs
Dover is 4-0 against Central Arkansas Christian since December of 2022, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. The Dover Pirates will head out on the road to challenge the Central Arkansas Christian Mustangs at 6:30 p.m. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Dover has three straight wins, Central Arkansas Christian has five straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
Lamar typically has all the answers at home, but on Tuesday Dover proved too difficult a challenge. They secured a 54-50 W over the Warriors.
Dover's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Logan Young led the charge by dropping a double-double on 18 points and 12 rebounds. Young has been hot recently, having posted 15 or more points the last four times she's played. Another player making a difference was Kenzie Mccrotty, who scored 14 points along with six rebounds.
Central Arkansas Christian suffered their biggest loss since November 20, 2023 on Thursday. They were outmatched by Lamar on the road and fell 62-23. While losing is never fun, Central Arkansas Christian can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Arkansas basketball rankings (they are ranked 210th, while Lamar is ranked 21st).
Dover's victory bumped their record up to 16-4. As for Central Arkansas Christian, their defeat was their ninth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 2-16.
Everything came up roses for Dover against Central Arkansas Christian in their previous matchup back in December of 2023 as the squad secured a 67-34 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Dover since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
