Baseball Game Preview: Niceville Eagles vs. Lincoln Trojans

The Niceville Eagles will take on the Lincoln Trojans at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The two teams are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games.

Niceville barely beat Crestview the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. Niceville put the hurt on Crestview with a sharp 14-1 victory on Tuesday. The Eagles might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won eight matchups by eight runs or more this season.

Jake Morvay spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned run on three hits. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in strikeouts (four).

At the plate, Deacon Avery and CJ Bolden did most of the damage at the plate: Avery went 2-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and one double, while Bolden went 3-for-4 with four RBI, two runs, and one double. Those three hits gave Bolden a new career-high. Remington Crum was another key player, scoring three runs and stealing a base while going 1-for-2.

Niceville always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .594. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Crestview only posted an OBP of .238.

Meanwhile, Lincoln waltzed into their game on Tuesday with three straight wins... but they left with four. Their pitchers stepped up to hand the Lions an 8-0 shutout.

The team relied heavily on Nate Dietz, who scored two runs while going 3-for-3. The team also got some help courtesy of Lucas Cannady, who scored a run and stole two bases while going 3-for-4.

Niceville is on a roll lately: they've won 11 of their last 13 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 15-3 record this season. Lincoln's win bumped their record up to 13-5.

Niceville was able to grind out a solid victory over Lincoln in their previous matchup back in March of 2024, winning 7-3. Will Niceville repeat their success, or does Lincoln has a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
