Softball Recap: Bunkie Has No Trouble Against Northwood

Bunkie had to skate by with only a one-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the 13-run drubbing they dealt Northwood on Thursday. Bunkie was the clear victor by a 17-4 margin over Northwood. The result was nothing new for the Panthers, who have now won ten matchups by six runs or more so far this season.

Aubree Ducote looked comfortable as she struck out seven batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit (and only one walk). Those seven strikeouts gave her a new career-high.

At the plate, Brianna LaBorde was incredible, going 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, four RBI, and two runs. Those two stolen bases gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Andi Bettevy, who scored three runs and stole three bases while getting on base in two of her five plate appearances.

Bunkie always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .526. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Northwood only posted an OBP of .375.

Bunkie has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six games. That's provided a massive bump to their 14-11 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.3 runs over those games. This is the second loss in a row for Northwood and nudges their season record down to 11-9.

Coming up, Bunkie will host Rayne at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Northwood has already played their next contest (against Rapides), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
