Softball Recap: Phoenix Extends Winning Streak to Five

Phoenix had already won four in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 5.8 runs) and they went ahead and made it five on Friday. They put the hurt on the Mazama Vikings with a sharp 10-3 win. Considering the Pirates have won three games by more than six runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

The team relied heavily on Isla Ulrich, who scored a run and stole two bases while going 1-for-2. Those stolen bases were her first of the season. Carsyn Sousa was another key player, scoring two runs while going 2-for-4.

Phoenix lost a few balls and finished the game with two home runs. That's the most home runs they've managed all season.

Phoenix's victory was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 6-1. Those home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.4 runs over those games. As for Mazama, their loss dropped their record down to 5-4.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Phoenix will head out to challenge Henley at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Mazama, they will face off against North Valley at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
