Baseball Recap: Campolindo's Win on Tuesday Extends Winning Streak to Three

After losing to Alhambra the last time they met, Campolindo decided to demonstrate that turnabout is fair play. The Cougars had just enough and edged out the Bulldogs 3-2 on Tuesday. That's two games straight that the Cougars have won by just one run.

Colin Rutzen spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered just two earned runs on six hits.

At the plate, Augie Martinez was excellent, going 3-for-4 with three RBI. Those three hits gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of William Myers, who got on base in two of his four plate appearances with two runs.

The win (which was Campolindo's third in a row) raised their record to 13-8. They've had to fight for that success though, as they only beat their opponents by an average of 1.33 runs across that stretch. As for Alhambra, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost six of their last eight contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 12-9 record this season.

Campolindo will have a chance to go back-to-back against Alhambra: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday.
