Baseball Recap: Dunkirk Wins Going Away Against Salamanca

Dunkirk lost a heartbreaker the last time they played Salamanca, but it's fair to say they got their revenge given the result of Thursday's game. The Marauders blew past the Warriors 10-1 on Thursday. With that victory, the Marauders brought their scoring average up to 6.4 runs per game.

Josh Lemanski was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching seven innings while giving up just one earned run off five hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in five consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of his five plate appearances with one stolen base and one run.

In other batting news, Greg Orcutt was incredible, going 4-for-5 with three runs, three RBI, and one double. Those three runs gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Paul Trippy, who went 2-for-4 with three runs, one double, and one RBI.

Dunkirk kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.

Dunkirk pushed their record up to 8-1 with the win, which was their third straight on the road. Those road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.0 run on average over those games. As for Salamanca, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-3.

Dunkirk will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Warriors: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 5:00 p.m. on Friday.
