Baseball Game Preview: Heritage Christian Angels vs. Tuscaloosa Home Educators Warriors

For the second straight game, Heritage Christian will face off against Tuscaloosa Home Educators. The Angels will host the Warriors at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Heritage Christian has three straight victories, Tuscaloosa Home Educators has three straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.

While Heritage Christian's win against Tuscaloosa Home Educators wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Angels had just enough and edged out the Warriors 5-3. While the Angels didn't have the best season last year (they finished 6-10), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past.

For Tuscaloosa Home Educators' part, Jackson Sodergren was huge while hitting and pitching even without the win. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing five innings while giving up just one earned (and three unearned) runs off seven hits. Sodergren has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in five consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with one run and one RBI.

Sodergren wasn't the only one making solid contact as four players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Wyatt Kannas, who went 1-for-3 with one double and one RBI. That double marked the first that Kannas has hit this season.

Heritage Christian pushed their record up to 7-1 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road. Those road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.3 runs over those games. As for Tuscaloosa Home Educators, their loss dropped their record down to 6-12.
