Softball Game Preview: Mars Fightin' Planets vs. Fox Chapel Foxes

The Mars Fightin' Planets are taking a road trip to square off against the Fox Chapel Foxes at 3:45 p.m. on Friday. Mars has given up an average of 11.8 runs per game this season, but Friday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Mars came up short against New Castle on Monday, falling 19-4. The Fightin' Planets have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Gabrielle Rapport was cooking despite her team's loss, going 1-for-3 with one triple, two RBI, and one run. That triple marked the first that she hit this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Allie Walukiewicz, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two RBI and one double.

Meanwhile, Fox Chapel was not the first on the board on Wednesday, but they got there more often. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 7-6 victory over New Castle.

Mars' defeat dropped their record down to 2-8. As for Fox Chapel, their record now sits at 4-1-1.

Mars couldn't quite finish off Fox Chapel in their previous matchup back in May of 2024 and fell 4-2. Can the Fightin' Planets avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
